Biking from Osnabrück to Berlin
Taking a look back on a four-day, nearly 800 km bikepacking adventure from Osnabrück to Berlin and back, including a side trip to Poland, highlights, challenges, and lessons
What I'm up to
A quick overview of what keeps me busy—both at work and in my free time.
I work as a software developer for a software service provider in Osnabrück (Germany), building large-scale software projects for our clients.
Outside of work, I spend a lot of time coding on personal projects—sometimes useful, sometimes just for fun or to learn and test something new.
A while ago I started sharing content online. I think it's helpful when people share what they know—everyone explains things differently, and that helps others learn. Plus, it helps me rethink topics, put my thoughts into words, and connect with others.
I love to play around with new tech and software tools. This is great, as I know a lot of tools and things, but also leads to switching my used software and tools quite often.
I play basketball in a league team here in Germany at a semiprofessional level. It’s intense training several times a week and everything that comes with serious competition, including long drives to games at the weekend.
After buying my first gravel bike — the first bike that really made cycling a sport for me — I quickly grew to love it as a balance to indoor and team sports. Now I also have a road bike, rack up quite a few kilometers each year, and enjoy bikepacking as well as pushing into ultra-distance rides.
If it's a sport, I'll probably watch it — basketball, cycling, sometimes even football, or whatever's on.
Starting up with a few Philips Hue lights when I moved out, I continued to expand my smarthome setup with more device. Running on Home Assistant on my Raspberry Pi, I now have a lot time spent on automating (and breaking) my home setup.
I use the blog to share things I’m working on, notes from projects, and thoughts on tech, development and other of my interests. If you’re interested in how I approach problems, what I archieved or want to see what I’ve been up to lately, you’ll find it here.

Exploring the limitations of AI in generating CSS art animations through various prompts which are also AI generated because I'm lazy and just wanted to see the results.
Breaking down the Home Assistant automation YAML of my window sensor-based heating control.
Talking about the the major redesign for my darts tracking application. I lost a bit of my good rythm of the development because of the little cats and it took approximately two and a half weeks to get away from a standard material design and incorporate my own touch into the design.
First Part of my Software Sidequest, start talking about my own projects and taking the entire topic of building my own projects as a “Software Solopreneur” more seriously
